Lahore, December 19, 2024 – Indus Motor Company (IMC), as part of Toyota’s global Start Your Impossible campaign, proudly invited Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem to the Deaf Reach School’s Annual Sports Day in Lahore. The event celebrated the power of perseverance and inclusion while emphasizing the importance of accessible education for deaf children.

Founded in 1998, Deaf Reach is dedicated to empowering underprivileged deaf children and youth through a holistic approach that includes education, skills training, job placement, and the development of sign language. This impactful work has transformed the lives of countless students and their families.

In Pakistan, an estimated 1.25 million children are deaf, yet less than 5% have access to formal education. Recognizing this gap, IMC partnered with Deaf Reach to create opportunities for economically disadvantaged children with sensory impairments, making a tangible social impact.

During the event, Arshad Nadeem inspired students by sharing his remarkable journey of setting a world record despite limited resources. IMC has proudly supported Arshad since 2023, standing by him as he reached extraordinary heights in his career.

The celebrated athlete also participated in various sports activities with the students, distributed certificates, and presented a souvenir to Mr. Daniel Marc, Director Operations at Deaf Reach School, Lahore.

IMC’s Chief Executive, Ali Asghar Jamali expressed that through IMC partnership with Deaf Reach and ongoing advocacy for inclusive initiatives, IMC continues to uphold its mission of empowering individuals to achieve the seemingly impossible. Toyota’s global “Start Your Impossible” program empowers athletes not only to pursue sports excellence but also to become advocates for social good.

Expressing gratitude, Mr. Daniel Marc highlighted the significance of Arshad Nadeem’s visit and commended IMC’s commitment to supporting their institution. “Having an icon like Arshad Nadeem here today is an incredible source of motivation for our students,” he remarked.

IMC’s long-standing corporate social responsibility program, Concern Beyond Cars, reflects its dedication to building an inclusive and thriving society. Over the years, IMC has supported numerous athletes and changemakers, including karate champion Saadi Abbas, para table tennis champion Zainab Barkat, mountaineer Asad Memon, and boxing champion Shahir Afridi, among others.

Karachi, 15th August 2024 – Indus Motor Company’s (IMC) one-off social initiative, the National Flag Collection Drive, now in its seventh year, has garnered quite a bit of attention over the years. A team of young volunteers from the company set off on a mission to salvage national flags strewn around Karachi on the morning following Independence Day celebrations.

The Independence Day and the days leading to it, generate quite a frenzy, with every neighbourhood across the country splashed in green and white, a painter’s delight. However, overnight all this turns pitiful with flags which just a day earlier were fluttering high above ground, are sadly found tattered and littered all over, on the roads, even garbage heaps or strewn on the ground, waiting to be carelessly trampled under-foot, an insult to our national pride.

As part of Toyota’s 5S philosophy, every 15th August, IMC under its CSR banner, Concern Beyond Cars, engages its employees under its Employee Volunteering Program, to help mitigate this desecration. Over 60 volunteers, clad in Toyota red t-shirts and white baseball caps sporting the crescent and star and equipped with PPEs, moved along six pre-determined separate routes across the city, collecting national flags and buntings littered around the city, later buried under the earth on Company’s premises.

IMC’s Chief Executive, Ali Asghar Jamali expressed, “This experience is a sure patriotism booster, not just for us at IMC but the public in general too, who see our volunteers in action on the roads, salvaging our symbol of pride. This year participation from across the company has been great, especially with the female staff joining in. There are no second thoughts that every Pakistani values the kaumi parcham but it hurts to see it on the ground, soiled, tattered and stepped upon. Of course, it’s not intentional but we can all be a bit more cautious and give the national flag the respect it rightfully commands.”

The entire group later converged at the Clifton Beach where the team with the biggest haul, was declared the winner and awarded prizes. The activity also generated interest of the general public, who also joined in, considering it a civic duty, and appreciated IMCs efforts.

Islamabad, December 20, 2023 – Indus Motor Company (IMC) recently hosted the 7th Journalist Summit at Bhurban, where esteemed journalists from the automotive industry congregated to witness the unveiling of the remarkable Corolla Cross. Gracing the occasion was Chief Engineer Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Mr. Yasushi Ueda. This highly anticipated event showcased Toyota’s revolutionary philosophy, exemplified by the Corolla Cross Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), and reiterated IMC’s commitment to delivering sustainable transportation to customers nationwide.

Highlighting the exceptional features Corolla Cross and the success of Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA), Mr. Ueda remarked, “TNGA is the backbone of the Corolla Cross, contributing to its enhanced platform and modern styling, which enables a comfortable and luxurious driving experience.”

“Equipped with a 1.8L Hybrid Electric Engine, Multi Drive Modes including EV, ECO, and Power, 7 SRS Airbags, Blind Spot Monitor, Clearance Sonars, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, 9-inch Floating Display, and Bi-Beam LED Headlamps, the Corolla Cross ensures that our customers experience unrivaled comfort, convenience, and safety.” He further added.

During the summit, Mr. Ali Asghar Jamali, Chief Executive Officer of Indus Motor Company, embarked on an enthusiastic discourse, emphasizing the pivotal aspects that make the Corolla Cross a game-changer in the automotive landscape of Pakistan.

A key highlight of the discussions centered around the remarkable advantages offered by the Corolla Cross HEV. Mr. Jamali highlighted, “The Corolla Cross boasts superior fuel economy, providing customers with up to 50% more fuel efficiency. This not only translates into significant savings but also contributes to reducing our dependency on imported fuel by approximately 50%.” (data taken from other countries with similar conditions).

Addressing the pressing need for environmental sustainability, Mr. Jamali emphasized the Corolla Cross’s role in curbing emissions, stating, “With a 35% reduction in emissions, the Corolla Cross exemplifies Toyota’s commitment to a greener future for Pakistan. We are delighted to offer a hybrid electric option that significantly contributes to a cleaner environment.”

Furthermore, Mr. Jamali shed light on Pakistan’s current energy landscape and the challenges in introducing Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), explaining, “Pakistan heavily relies on non-renewable energy sources, hindering the immediate adoption of BEVs. However, our HEV technology presents a practical and efficient solution, providing low maintenance costs, reliable batteries, and excellent resale value to our customers.”

Regarding the legacy of the Corolla brand, Mr. Jamali proudly stated, “Since its first introduction in 1966, the Corolla has carved a remarkable niche for itself. In Pakistan, the Corolla has become a beloved household name since its arrival in 1993. Today, the brand value of Corolla is as strong as the name Toyota itself. It is a testament to Pakistan’s unwavering love for the Corolla that we have consistently been the number one country in the Asia Region for Corolla sales, securing this position for 13 out of the past 17 years.”
